Technology for grandpa

My grandpa is actually still a pretty funky guy and is eager to stay connected with technology. It's very funny to see him taking selfies with me and my cousins. He finds it a bit hard to use the cutting edge smartphones as they have quite small type and buttons, so we have to get him some technology that suits his abilities. It's cool to be able to get texts from him and send him messages to let him know that we are thinking about him. This blog is all about finding accessible technology options for the elderly to keep them connected.

Selecting a Phone System for Your Small Business

The process of starting a small business is challenging because you must consider different aspects to ensure that the operation is efficient. One of these important elements is the phone system since it will allow real-time communication with clients and suppliers. In simple terms, you cannot rely on email and social networks if you want your business to grow exponentially. When assessing the different phone systems for commercial use in the market, you will need to evaluate diverse aspects. The obvious considerations include your telecommunications budget, size of the company and maintenance requirements. In addition, consider these outlined technical factors to ensure that your small business enjoys modern expediency.

Type of Phone System

There are different phone systems in the telecommunications industry, so you will need to compare the products. In the past, traditional landline telephone systems were the most popular for small businesses. These are designed to provide reliable phone communication, and they are connected to regional phone networks. Their popularity has decreased because the services do not merge with the modern technology. Voice over Internet Protocol products are currently the most ideal for young businesses. These allow the phone functions to be operated via the internet, so you can install this system if you have a reliable connection. There are other more sophisticated systems such as private branch exchange, but they are suited for medium and large operations.

On-Premise vs. Hosted

You can choose a phone system which is hosted in the cloud or within your premises. Basically, the cloud-based option will allow your communications data network to be managed by your service provider. The major equipment required for the phone system will be installed in an offsite location. You will pay a periodic fee for the management of your telecommunication networks. An on-premises phone system allows you to purchase all the equipment and manage the system onsite. You will retain control of every aspect of your business and you will not need to pay a periodic fee. On the other hand, the cost of purchasing the machines can be high for young businesses. Your choice should depend on your budget, capital and the long-term expectations for the operation.

Special Features

You should think about the special features that you would like to have in your phone setup. Ideally, if you choose the VoIP option, you will have an opportunity to integrate all your telecommunications business features to create a unified communications network. Inquire about the possibility of incorporating video conferencing, auto-attendant and mobility and collaboration features into the phone system.
